Staffing
We have a dedicated team of staff ensuring each
child receives a high quality of care in a safe and secure
environment. Our recruitment procedure ensures all our staff are
vetted, using a CRB checks, and references are taken up. Staff also
receive regular training, including Child Protection, First Aid and
Health & Safety. A large proportion of staff hold the NNEB or NVQ
2/3 whilst other staff are working towards these qualifications.
Food
Wherever possible we use local produce. Fresh
fruit and locally produced vegetables are used daily. If
your child has special dietary requirements, particularly any food
allergies or intolerance, please let use know so we can accommodate
them.
We start the day with Breakfast; a range of
cereals are offered with toast for children who are at the nursery
before 8.30am.
Snacks are provided mid-morning and
mid-afternoon, and are usually fresh fruit.
A home cooked 2-course lunch is provided for all
children who attend a full day or a morning session. Also if
requested a high-tea will be served for full day of afternoon
children at approx 4.30pm. A 4-week example menu is included within
our brochure.
Children under 1 years
old
Children under 6 months will be offered a weaning
diet, dependent on the parents/carers wishes. At 6 months, we will
introduce the babies to our delicious nursery menu. Staff, taking
into account the input or parents/carers, decides what is suitable
for the individual babies. We offer a variety of baby breakfast
cereals for those babies who are early birds!
Drinks
Children over 1 year old
Milk is provided with afternoon snack, water or
fresh juice is provided at breakfast, morning snack and lunch unless
parents/carers instruct otherwise. Children over 2 years will have
their own water bottle in the room so that if they do become thirsty
whilst playing they are able to help themselves to a drink.
Children under 1 year old
We request that you provide formula milk of your
choice whilst at the nursery, brought in daily in labelled and dated
bottles. Tape will be provided if needed at the reception. We have
a separate milk fridge in for baby room where the milk will be
stored. We provide cool boiled water with lunch. When your child
has turned 1, with the parents/carer’s consent we will introduce
cows milk.
Sign language
At Nurture we believe it is important for all
children to be able to communicate with other children and adults a
like. Our staff here are dedicated to promoting the use of signing
and we regularly attend local sign classes to be able to pass on our
knowledge to the children and parents alike.
Special Needs
Any child with special needs will be given the
support, resources and equipment require, with the same
opportunities as all the nursery children. Staff will receive
training in this area, and there will be at least one member of
staff with special interest and experience who monitors our
awareness and training needs.
